Love comes in many different flavors. People love differently and love things around them in ways often lacking for words to describe how they feel.

My boys are all sweet and so different, yet they all have parts of my heart. I didn’t realize a heart could grow so big to fit so many little faces. I watched my sweet boy Fergus reach out to touch his tiny nose to my fingertips yesterday evening, it made me want to tear up. Such grateful gestures for any comfort or attention from their humans.

Love that comes in the package of a rat is unique and intense. They burn bright and love you in a way that I don’t believe any other animal can.

My boys take treats with a look of, “Are you sure I can have this?”–no matter how many they have been given. They lick hands and cuddle with a contented brux and share a boggle in thanks.

I am telling myself lately that 7 will be enough for now, but I’m not so sure. I’m never sure when the next baby will tell me he is ready to come home to me.
