YAY!!!!
New babies over at Azure Ridge Rattery!!!! Calypso gave birth to 12 babies, unfortunately one was stillborn. So there are 3 males and 8 females in the newest bunch! Looks like only a couple are dumbo ears. The last litter was 100% dumbo and Adrienne was thrilled, she loves those ears
We are glad that Calypso came though it all ok and are very pleased that Valerie has what’s going to be yet another very cute batch of ratlets on her hands.
(Ok, Im going to say it, I’m seriously hoping to see a platinum baby in the bunch!!!)

I had Nugi out for a while by himself. I am trying to get him to be more comfortable being handled. He doesn’t mind shoulder riding or a pet in the cage. He does get a bit antsy being handled though.
I think part of it is simply his age. He isnt quite 4 months old yet, so he is still a busy body and always looking to see what there is to see. I noticed that he eagerly comes to the cage door now and likes his ears played with just a bit. You can’t do it too rough or he will squeak and walk off. LOL.
He is a big boy, very solid. I know he is going to be quite a bit bigger than Wembley and Fergus.
I need to start their dinner. They all seem to prefer rice at room temperature so I indulge them. I also have sweet potatos that need peeled, cubed, boiled and mashed for them. They seem to enjoy those far more than white potatos.
I also need to get the nursery cage out and scrubbed and disinfected. I’ts been out in the shed since August. I bought some hammocks and toys for the new babies along with dishes and even more baby foods!
My work it would seem is never done.

The reservations are up and now it’s just time to sit back and wait. The boys have two nephews coming to stay with us for a while. Well Vroo will be a permanent resident with us, Meef will be going to live with Scott after a three week QT.
The boys have lovely names, but they are a bit hard to pronounce. LOL (ok, hard for me, but since I’m writing this I can blame it on all of us). We are all very excited about the new kids. I’m looking forward to the fattening and further socializing of the babies.
They should be home Thanksgiving weekend..gobble gobble gobble. Turkey and ratties, now that’s a winning combination =D

I just thought I would share a bit about an online friend of mine. She is the kindest woman and has a huge heart. She had to have her beloved little girl PTS last night. Pisces was just over a year old.
We just want you to know Astrid how sad we are today and we hope that your heart gets to feeling better soon. I know it’s tough and it was a difficult choice you had to make. Just know that Pisces is now completely well and playing at the bridge.
My boys send lots of bruxing and chitters your way along with hugs and condolences. It’s never easy to lose our beloved furries. It’s even worse when their lives get cut short.

The boys were out on the couch last night, tunneling through blankets. I think they were mostly interested in getting someplace cozy and staying there.
Wembley burrowed between my back and the couch and proceeded to try and take a nap. Nugi stayed in my lap under the covers and Fergus wouldn’t stay put. Its amazing how quick they are, look like little streaks of fur as they zoom by, running towards their cage.
Valerie’s lastest batch of babies is looking awesome! She has another fabulous girl due this weekend. We are keeping our fingers crossed for a speedy delivery with lots of squeaking eepers!!! I’m sure the babies will be awesome and just as beautiful as the current litter. Valerie does a wonderful job.
I was over at Sondra’s site and there should be some nice ratties born in the next couple of months if the pairings go off as planned. Mokey, one of the brothers sisters, is going to be bred in December. We are looking forward to seeing the wonderful babies that will produce.
OK, time to go and play with the boys. They are probably hanging on the cage, wondering where we are at and why they haven’t been let out to play yet this morning. OK!! So I’m running late playing on the internet..it happens LOL
