October 2006

I was up early feeding my fur kids. I noticed that Nugi has slowly come around to the “dark side” LOL. He didnt use to care as much for sweets as the other two, it would seem that lately he has decided that something sweet is a very good thing. The boys really love dry sweetened cereal. So to balance out their love of the snacks and give them something good, we buy organic kids cereal. No, still not the best for them, but at least its natural and not so full of refined sugars and whatnot. I can get a handful and then put my hand in the cage with the boys, they will all very nicely take one, go eat and then come back. They are developing some really nice table manners. Who would have thought? LOL Im hoping that as adults they take the same care.

Take a look at this. its just about enough to make your heart explode from the sheer furry goodness!!!!!

I love babies…I LOVE RATS!!!!!!

I was looking at day 8 pictures of Valeries newest litter and they are coming along just beautifully. The little dark furred ones look so pretty, but the smooth creamy white babies are just as beautiful. I would love to help raise a litter! No, I dont want to breed rats, not in the least. I would just like to help someone in the raising of a litter, to watch them grow and change close up. I know its alot of hard work and to do it properly can get pricey. Rats need a very good diet to grow up healthy and strong.

I know just making the mix for my three and Scotts five can get a bit pricey. We use almost a 100% organic products in the mix. I prefer everything to be as natural as possible for them. We have even moved to dehydrating our own fruit to add to their food. Valerie has a really great homemade mix that she uses, so we modeled ours off of that with just a few changes. (Hey Valerie, how do you get your furries to eat the toasted soy nuts? LOL the boys think they are evil!!!). Its amazing how complex feeding rats can actually get. You have to be so careful to make sure they are getting a varied diet and that they maintain a healthy weight. Not so easy with my snackhounds!

The babies are busy playing in a kleenex box, they make me luagh with their antics. They usually dont get up this early, but I guess the sound of the door opening was just to much for them to ignore!

I just cant post without mentioning that Valerie has a new batch over at Azure Ridge and wow they are cute!!!! I cant wait to see them fully fuzzed. She is also expecting another litter the beginning of November, so good luck to her and the expecting momma!!!!

Valerie just had a litter the 14 .The new borns are looking so cute. One male died leaving a remainder of 7.
